Tarn Hut Guide

- Facilities: Tarn Hut is set beside a small alpine tarn in Mount Richmond Forest Park, offering five bunks in a snug, heated refuge with mattresses, basic toilets and untreated tap water (boil before use). Built in the 1960s by the NZ Forest Service and now managed by DOC, it serves Te Araroa trampers. Access is via a sign‑posted spur from the main ridge, reached after a steep alpine approach.
