Lågaros is located at the intersection of several marked routes on the Hardangervidda plateau, and is a good destination for a first stage if you take the trip from Møsvatn and inland on the plateau. The T-marked trail runs in easy terrain from Møsstrond via Mogen and along Gjuvsjåen into Lågaros. The cabin was opened in 1960 and the safety cabin was completed in 1985. The cabin is located high and open with a good view of the western parts of the Hardangervidda plateau.
