Refugi Sant Jordi – Climbing, Hiking & Mountaineering information

Some time later, the precarious state of the building led to the owners to yield to the FEEC a neighboring plot to erect a new refuge. Thanks to the economic support of the Diputación de Barcelona, equipment was built that was inaugurated in October 1961. Although the architectural structure of the building has been maintained - of fact is the same as in the shelters of Lagos de la Pera and Sierra de Ensija - Currently Sant Jordi is a very cozy and comfortable refuge. Refugi Sant Jordi is a payment refuge located in Catalonia (Spain). The shelter is passing point of the Cavalls del Vent crossings, magical mountains and the path of the Cathars. Available services: blankets, food and drinks, heating, internet, shower and toilet. Likewise, access through PR-C 125, a beautiful excursion that runs through the Empedrats, the old Royal Camino de la Cerdanya, touring the spectacular and encased Valle del Río Pendís, is a totally recommended experience. In 1951 the Catalan delegation of the then Spanish Federation of Montañismo enabled as a refuge of the former Hostel de la Fuente de la Hague, located in a strategic enclave in the foot to Pendís. As for the ascents, the star of the area is the Penyes Altes del Moixeró (2,276 m), the most charismatic summit of the Sierra de Moixeró.
