Puketotara Hut Guide

  • Facilities: Puketotara Hut is found at about 452 m on a fern-clad ridge at the eastern end of the Matemateāonga Track in Whanganui National Park. Built in 1980–81 and managed by the Department of Conservation, it offers eight bunks warmed by a wood stove and simple comforts like mattresses and untreated tap water. Accessible via a gentle ridge walk from Kohi Saddle, it rewards trampers with sweeping views toward the Whanganui River and Tongariro peaks.
