Built along an old Māori and settler dray route, it blends basic comforts—warmth, mattresses and tap water (boil before use)—with rustic charm. Easily reached via a 5.6 km walk from Kohi Saddle, it’s a popular overnight stop en route to Whakaihuwaka/Mt Humphries.
