Mintaro Hut Guide

- Facilities: Mintaro Hut is located at about 640 m in the head of Clinton Valley on the Milford Track, managed by New Zealand’s Department of Conservation. The current 40‑bunk shelter, opened in April 2021, replaced a rockfall‑threatened predecessor and features solar‑lit communal spaces, heating, and untreated tap water. Its sun‑soaked design and carved pouwhenua reflect both sustainability and Ngāi Tahu storytelling, offering a warm, scenic respite before the climb to McKinnon Pass.
