Mangatepopo Hut Guide

- Facilities: Mangatepopo Hut is tucked at about 1, 190 m in the volcanic Mangatepopo Valley of Tongariro National Park. Built in 1974 and managed by the Department of Conservation, it offers a cosy refuge with heating, cooking facilities and basic bunks for around 20 trampers. Water must be boiled before use. Its proximity to the famed Alpine Crossing makes it a popular overnight stop with sweeping sunset views.
