Middle Hill Hut Guide

- Facilities: Middle Hill Hut is set at about 943 m in Kaweka Forest Park, a sunny clearing where manuka scrub meets red beech. Built in 1963 by the NZ Forest Service and refreshed by DOC in 2003, it sleeps six on simple bunks and retains its original open fireplace. Water comes from a tank—boil before use—and access is via a rough 2–3 hour tramp from Makahu Road.
