- Facilities: Lake Poteriteri Hut is located beside the remote southern Fiordland lake at just 17 m elevation. Operated by the Department of Conservation, this standard six‑bunk shelter was completed in March 1982 to replace an earlier hut destroyed during the “deer wars.” It offers basic warmth and sleeping comfort, with untreated tap water (boil before use) and simple non‑flush toilets—ideal for hardy backcountry travellers.
