Waitutu Hut Guide

- Facilities: Waitutu Hut is found just above sea level beside the Waitutu River in Fiordland National Park. Managed by DOC, this standard 12‑bunk shelter (with heating, mattresses and basic toilets) was built in the 1970s following completion of the nearby swing bridge. Access is via the remote South Coast Track—crossing the Wairaurāhiri and Waitutu rivers—and rewards trampers with wild coastal forest and solitude.
