Built in 1966 by the NZ Forest Service to be visible from Brodrick Pass, this cosy six‑bunk shelter offers a wood‑burner, basic mattresses, non‑flush loo and rain‑harvested water (boil before use). It’s a remote, atmospheric base for crossing into the Landsborough via Huxley Valley.
