- Facilities: Dodger Hut rests in the remote Hopkins Valley of Ruataniwha Conservation Park, offering four bunks in a modest shelter built by the NZ Forest Service in 1958. At around 783 m elevation, it’s managed by the Department of Conservation and reached via an 8–9 hour, 25 km trek from Ram Hill. Inside, trampers find basic comforts—heating, mattresses and untreated tap water—requiring boiling before use.
