Das Rifugio Alpe Sponda liegt auf einer großen und sonnigen Terrasse im Tal von Chironico auf 1997 m. Sie wurde 1948 erbaut und 1959 erweitert, aber 1975 durch eine Lawine völlig zerstört und dank der freiwilligen Hilfe zahlreicher Mitglieder neu gestaltet und sofort wieder aufgebaut. Erneut erweitert und renoviert wurde die Hütte im Jahr 2012 mit dem Bau eines neuen Panorama-Essraums und komfortablen Sanitäranlagen.
