Mount Marcy Climbing Notes
Anthony from UNITED STATES writes:
I have been on top of Marcy many times, last year I went in mid November and encountered about 6 inches of snow that fell the night before, and sufficient ice to make it difficult to walk with out traction with temps in the range of 40-20's as you approach the summit with at least 20mph winds during the day.
I would say for a late October trip, personally I would use MicroSpikes or something similar, because crampons will be too much for the little amount of ice at this time and they would get significantly worn on the bare rock. as far as snow shoes... I Went in mid November and found about 6 inches of snow. I would not recommend snow shoes at this time, As long as you have good tall warm boots.
Best of Luck, Anthony
