Te Totara Hut Guide
- Place: Te Urewera
- Facilities: Te Totara Hut is positioned beside Parahaki Stream in Te Urewera, a six‑bunk timber shelter built in 1952 by deer‑cullers led by Rex Forrester. Managed by DOC’s Aniwaniwa office in partnership with Te Uru Taumatua, it blends rustic warmth—thanks to its open fire and basic heating—with a remote, historic setting. Water must be boiled before use, and non‑flush toilets reflect its backcountry character.
