Mangamate Hut Guide

- Facilities: Mangamate Hut is set at about 710 m on a saddle high above the Whirinaki Valley, offering sweeping views through ancient podocarp forest. Managed by DOC, this nine‑bunk standard hut was relocated from the valley floor in the early 2000s. It’s warmed by a wood‑burning stove and has running water (boil before use), making it a cozy backcountry refuge after a stream‑crossing approach.
