Built in the late 1970s and air‑lifted into place, it sleeps 12 and is maintained by Kaimai Ridgeway Trust volunteers under DOC oversight. Access is via a well‑formed 3‑hour tramp from Hot Springs Road along the historic Tuahu–North South route.
