- Facilities: Rifugio Vallanta stands at 2, 450 m in the Vallone di Vallanta beneath Monviso’s dramatic northwest face. Built in 1988 by CAI’s Monviso‑Saluzzo section to replace the avalanche‑prone Gagliardone, it offers 75 summer bunks (25 in winter), electricity from a local hydro plant, hot water, Wi‑Fi and a welcoming restaurant. Accessible only on foot—typically a 2½‑hour hike from Castello di Pontechianale—it anchors the classic Giro di Viso.

It stands at the head of the Vallanta Valley, at the base of the western slope of Monviso. The Vallanta refuge, with its unique triangular shape, was inaugurated in 1988 after a complex design process. It has 75 beds, including 30 in the winter facility, used year-round.
