  • Facilities: Rifugio Alpetto lies at 2, 268 m in Valle Po, Piemonte, offering a warm, modern welcome with hot water, electricity and a cozy restaurant in a rustic stone setting. Managed by CAI Cavour and the Oncino community, it sleeps 24 and includes an 8‑bed winter bivouac. Founded in 1866 as the first CAI refuge and reborn in 1998 beside a museum of early alpinism, it’s a two‑hour hike from Meire Dacant.

It is located near Lake Alpetto, at the foot of Monviso. The current refuge was built in 1998. A short distance away is the old Alpetto refuge, now a museum, the first CAI accommodation facility.
