Managed by CAI Cavour and the Oncino community, it sleeps 24 and includes an 8‑bed winter bivouac. Founded in 1866 as the first CAI refuge and reborn in 1998 beside a museum of early alpinism, it’s a two‑hour hike from Meire Dacant.

It is located near Lake Alpetto, at the foot of Monviso. The current refuge was built in 1998. A short distance away is the old Alpetto refuge, now a museum, the first CAI accommodation facility.
