Built in 1913 by CAI Torino and renamed in 1933 for alpinist Ernesto Tazzetti, it now sleeps 32 guests (plus a 6‑bed winter room) under the voluntary care of CAI Chieri. A 2.5–3 h walk from Lago di Malciaussia.

It is located beneath the Rocciamelone glacier, on a grassy slope. The refuge is managed by members of the Chieri subsection; it is the ideal base for those tackling Rocciamelone from the northern and eastern sides, as well as being a destination for simple hikes.
