- Facilities: Papatahi Hut occupies beside the Ōrongorongo River in Remutaka Forest Park, offering a cosy, serviced refuge with cooking facilities, wood heating and mattresses for up to ten trampers. Managed by DOC, it lies roughly 191 m above sea level and was built as the third Shamrock Hut in 2010. Access involves a 3½‑hour walk from Catchpool via multiple river crossings—best avoided in flood.
