  • Facilities: Haurangi Hut is located at about 157 m in Remutaka Forest Park’s Catchpool–Ōrongorongo corridor. Built in 2010 to replace an earlier private shelter, this DOC‑managed serviced hut sleeps ten on bunk mattresses and offers gas cooking, wood heating and untreated tap water (boil before use). A locked, sole‑occupancy refuge, it’s reached via a scenic 2–3 hour tramp along the Ōrongorongo and Big Bend tracks.
