Mcconchies Hut Guide

- Facilities: McConchies Hut is located at about 450 m in Kahurangi National Park’s Matiri Valley, offering a snug four‑bunk refuge warmed by a wood stove and simple comforts. Built in 1958 as one of the first NZFS huts air‑lifted in and later named for its designer Phil McConchie, it’s managed by DOC and reached via the Matiri Valley or 1000‑Acre Plateau tracks. Water must be boiled before use.
