Mackintosh Hut Guide

- Facilities: Mackintosh Hut is set at about 858 m on a regenerating plateau in Kaweka Forest Park, Hawke’s Bay. Built in 1959 to support deer culling and upgraded in 2003 and 2009, it now offers eight bunks, a wood‑burning stove and basic water and toilet facilities. Managed by DOC, it’s reached via steep, unbridged river crossings from Lakes, Lawrence or Makahu Saddle road‑ends.
