Lower Arahura Hut Guide

- Facilities: Lower Arahura Hut is positioned in a grassy clearing above the Arahura River, at about 286 m elevation. Built by DOC in 2010 to replace a 1962 NZFS four‑bunk shelter, it now offers six bunks and a cosy wood‑heater ambience. Managed by the Department of Conservation within the Waitaiki Historic Reserve, it’s reached via a mix of old gold‑miners’ benched track, river flats and swing‑bridge crossings.
