Welcome to this gem by the water's edge! The house is idyllically located right by the sea on the west side of the former Søndre Langøy. The small Swiss house is owned by the Oslo Municipality, the Urban Environment Agency and leased by DNT Oslo and the Region. The house was built in 1853-1854 by Hans Andersen and his wife Mathea. The descendants of Hans and Mathea lived in the house until the last island resident had to move in 1952. This was one of the few houses that was not demolished when the municipality transformed the garbage island" into a bathing island.
