Built in 1970 as a six‑bunk NZFS design, it now features a wood‑burner, clear‑light roof panel and rain‑water tank supplying untreated tap water—boil before use. Access is via a 4–5 hour tramp up the Haast–Paringa Cattle Track, offering a quiet backcountry retreat.
