Spruce Knob, at 4,863 feet, is the tallest peak in West Virginia and part of the Allegheny Mountains. The summit offers sweeping views over the Appalachian landscape, with a mix of spruce forests and exposed quartzite rock formations. The elevation and remote location contribute to a cool, windy climate and make it a key ecological zone in Monongahela National Forest. Photo courtesy of carson-kaskel on Unsplash.
