Moldoveanu Climbing Notes

Matthew Edwards from UNITED KINGDOM writes:

Relatively straightforward scramble from Northern or Southern flanks (via Vistea Mare). Difficult in winter conditions due to risk of avalanche.

Refuge accommodation below summit at Cabina Podragu from where the summit can be reached in about 3 hours.

Cabina Podragu is accessible in 8 to 9 hours from Victoria and is manned until November (snow dependent).

Round trip to Moldoveanu peak is possible in one very long day via the Vistea Mare Valley by parking at the end of the forest trail.

For round trip from Victoria, via Moldoveanu, and return via Vistea Mare Valley, allow 2 to 3 days.
