It is located in a basin at the head of the Sestaione Valley, below the Tre Potenze Alps. It is located on the edge of Lago Nero and a few minutes' walk from Lago Piatto. It has 16 beds in a single dormitory and a fully equipped kitchen. On closing days, an emergency shelter with no fireplace is open 24/7 and has four beds.
