It stands on a plateau between the Spiz di Mezzo and the Spiz Sud of the Pramper-Mezzodì group. The semi-barrel-shaped bivouac was inaugurated in 1970. It is named in memory of the young member Gianmario Carnielli, and since 2010 also in memory of the doctor Giuliano De Marchi.
