Isolated, fairly comfortable, cosy shelter, surrounded by glaciers. There is a long glacier access from Grimsel Hospiz via Unteraargletscher and Finsteraargletscher. The direct view of the Finsteraarhorn east wall is impressive. It is the starting point for demanding high alpine ascents of Lauteraarhorn, Finsteraarhorn or Studerhorn and the passage across Strahleggpass to Schreckhornhütte (partly marked out) across Finsteraarjoch and Agassizjoch.
