Vigdalstøl was put into use as a self-service cabin in 1961, and later the Li-Hans barn was converted into a security cabin. Vigdalstøl is a good starting point for several interesting trips. From here, for example, the 1757-meter-high Vongsen can be an attractive hiking destination. From the top you can see the snow cap of Jostedalsbreen on one side and the Jotunheimen peak range on the opposite side.
