- Facilities: Top Kokatahi Hut is positioned at about 1, 050 m in the upper Kokatahi Valley, managed by the Department of Conservation. Originally built in 1959 as a four‑bunk Forest Service shelter, it was relocated and substantially rebuilt in 2008 with insulation, double glazing, a wood‑burner and a new toilet. Access involves a challenging poled route via Zit Saddle or a rugged river‑valley approach. Water must be boiled before use.
