Operated by DOC, this timber‑lined shelter offers six bunks warmed by a wood‑burner and a sunny veranda. Built in the 1980s to replace an older hut, it lies on a rugged multi‑day route via Lathrop–Zit Saddle, with water from a roof‑fed tank and basic loo facilities.
