- Facilities: Ruahine Hut is tucked at about 920 m in a sheltered clearing of Ruahine Forest Park, managed by the Department of Conservation. Built in 1960 by the New Zealand Forest Service, it offers eight bunks warmed by a woodburner and rain‑collected water that must be boiled. Access is via No Man’s Road and a short 4WD track through Big Hill Station, requiring a permit.
