Pioneer Hut Guide

- Facilities: Pioneer Hut is tucked at about 2, 360 m in Westland Tai Poutini National Park, offering climbers a rugged alpine base above the Fox Glacier. Managed by the New Zealand Alpine Club in partnership with DOC, it sleeps 12 in simple bunks and provides basic lighting, water from a tank (boil before use), and non-flush toilets. Built in 1999 after earlier versions succumbed to rockfall, it’s accessed by air or via Graham Saddle.
