Otukota Hut Guide

- Facilities: Otukota Hut stands at about 607 m on a ledge above the Maropea River in Ruahine Forest Park. Built in the 1960s by the NZ Forest Service as a six‑bunk S70 shelter, it now offers a wood‑burner, mattresses and basic sanitation, with untreated tap water to be boiled. Refurbished in 2021–22 by Kaimahi for Nature volunteers, it remains a rugged refuge for trampers and hunters.
