Kaipo Hut Guide

- Facilities: Kaipo Hut is positioned at about 94 m elevation in remote northern Fiordland, managed by the Department of Conservation. Built in 2012 by Mackenzie Alpine Trust volunteers atop the old hunter’s base, it offers six bunks, a wood‑burning stove and basic comforts. Access demands self‑navigation through untracked terrain and potentially hazardous river crossings, so bring map, compass and river‑crossing skills.
