- Facilities: Hawdon Hut rests at about 765 m above sea level near the head of Hawdon Valley in Arthur’s Pass National Park. Operated by DOC, it was rebuilt in 2007 after its predecessor burned down, offering a warm firebox, simple long-drop toilet and rain‑fed tap. With 20 bunks across two bedrooms, it’s a scenic overnight stop or gateway to the Edwards–Hawdon alpine route.
