The Ostegghütte was built in 1998 on the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of the mountain guide association Grindelwald. The unique location of the hut with a view over Lake Thun and as far as the Jura makes the Ostegg hut a worthwhile day destination. The hut also serves as a starting point for the tour over the Eigerhörnli (local: Hireleni) to the Mittellegi hut.
