North Peak Climbing Notes

Greg AG from UNITED STATES writes:

One if not the steepest hikes in the Sierra range
at 54% is no joke! be prepared

from Saddlebag, go left, go up waterfall - stay close to the greens!

After the lakes and rocks you climb straight up to the top......so.......

Once you Pass several glacier lakes, make your route over the giant rock that sticks into the lake, it is tough and steep, possible to go on left side but you'll need to end up on this side by the tree line, there is NO Trail at this point - it is giant boulders - field of, be careful! continue up - it will be mostly VERTICAL in Very difficult fine gravel with some large rocks that may fall on your ankle, BEWARE. You will be leaning forward due to the angle.

Once at the top, it is totally flat like mars, but you can see the rim curve to Conness Glacier and walk on it - super cool. You can see a tiny little glacier lake that has likely never been visited down the crevice.

VERY REWARDING, MAGICAL and TOUGH

GEAR NEEDED - boots or shoes with gaiters at a minimum!
Trekking poles will be very helpful!
Leather gloves could be very useful
ROPE can help in case as this gets VERY steep!
