We did a loop hike climbing Nippletop then Dial. Parking lot was full at 6:30 am on Saturday October 5 2019 we had to park in the area about 1/4 mile up the hill. It was a very cold 28 degrees F. Easy going all the way to elk pass then the ice started, the ice made for a little trickier travel but manageable and beautiful as the sun came out. It is steady up from elk pass but not crazy a lot of rock scramble. Great view from Nippletop. The hike to Dial is super easy, some up and down to Bear Den and and some more up to Noonmark shoulder(another great view). Then you have a long way down to Lake Rd. Our GPS showed just under 15 miles but that includes parking up the road. We did it 10 hours. Time includes a few breaks and an hour to soak up the sun and look at the foliage on Nippletop. You can make good time on Lake Rd.
