As of summer 2026, Sawyer River Road has been closed to cars due to storm damage for well over a year now. Expect a 2 mile road walk to get to Signal Ridge Trail.

Parking lot by trailhead still not open as of 4-10 (just read it is opening 5-25) so you’ll have an extra 4 miles to your day. I totaled 14 miles. Spikes were a must from trailhead to summit. Postholes on the way down with some ice melting

Mt. Carrigain 's parking lot is open as of 5.25.2019 and this saved us 4 miles! on the top of the trail still there is solid snow. We did not use microspikes but some people may prefer to use them.
