Monte Leone is known as the highest glaciated summit east of Simplon Pass. The elongated, stone-built cabin, an ancient army barrack, is located close to the border at the foot of Wasenhorn. The view from the cabin goes across Chaltwassergletscher, at whose end there are a few turquoise glacial lakes and a climbing park. Slightly above the cabin an unexpected panorama towards the west and deep down to Alpe Veglia in Italy awaits the visitors.
