Die Hütte steht auf dem historischen Passübergang, welcher Kandersteg und das Lötschental verbindet. Sie ist im Sommer und im Winter geöffnet und bietet vielfältige Möglichkeiten für Bergbegeisterte, Familien, Schulklassen und Wintersportler. 2007 und 2008 wurde die Lötschenpasshütte erweitert und nach Minergie-Standard umgebaut.
