If yer really a hard-core enviro-geek, you'll be buying up ranchland and returning it to the bison, elk, antelope and condor. Not to mention the wolves and grizzly bear. That'll make for some pretty lively environment!
Meanwhile, take a look at the San Jose city hall falcon cam. The peregrines have been breeding up there for years, in close daily proximity to NOXIOUS HUMANS!

Supposedly illegal and on private property, yes. But worth the climb. Worst case scenario is a civil citation by the Sheriff dept. *if anyone catches you. Do not park on Turri rd. This is a tell to local landowner that someone may be attempting a climb. Get someone to drop you off or stash a bike in the bushes by the Los Osos eco preserve that shows up on Google maps. Head up preferably several hours before daylight on a full moon night. There are game cams set up for monitoring so....
Good luck. It's worth it!

Just clarify regarding guided hikes; the hikes do not climb Hollister Peak. We never climb Hollister Peak ourselves or give permission to hike. Also, the Land Conservancy did not purchase the ranch. The Land Conservancy has a conservation easement that allows for guided hikes on the ranch from time to time. The guided hikes include other beautiful and interesting parts of the ranch. We leave Hollister peak to the birds and other wildlife.

The land conservatory has purchased most of the land in 2018 and they can take you on a guided hike. I climbed it when I was 12. Got poison oak bad. Cool view. It gets sketchy towards top. I wouldn't climb it without permission though.

Hollister Peak is completely on private property and there is no access for anyone at any time. The owners never climb the peak as well. The peak has been declared an ecological reserve to protect the sensitive plants and animals including Peregrine Falcons. Please help us protect Hollister Peak.
Note: All trespassers are cited by the Sheriff per California Penal Code 602.8.A. There are no exceptions and no warnings.
