Climbed Buckden Pike on 3rd February 2026. Did circular from National Park's car park back via Starbotton over the river and up the Dales Way.
Wind absolutely howling on the top and the wind chill is easily enough to numb your face. Last couple of hundred feet to summit covered in snow and sheet ice on the foot path. Tremendous fun but care and the right clothing obviously needed. My friend and I have good boots (vibram soled) and use walking poles and were fine.
