- Facilities: Te Pourewa Hut stands at about 276 m amid the rugged forest of Te Urewera, offering eight bunks in a modest standard shelter warmed by an open fire and simple heating. Managed under the co-governance of Te Uru Taumatua (Ngāi Tūhoe) with DOC support, it lies along the Whakatāne River tramping route, reached after a ridge climb from Ohane Stream. Water must be boiled before use.
