Built in 1958 as a Forest Service SF40 design, it retains its original open‑fire warmth and simple comforts. The modest four‑bunk shelter draws trampers via a steep, scenic route from North Block Road, tracing forest edge, river crossings and scrub before descending to the stream‑side terrace. Facilities include basic mattresses, non‑flush toilets and untreated tap water—boil before use.
